Impact on Our Programs

EDUCATION

Our value-based education (VBDE)to underprivileged children started in the year 2004. We have reached out to around 6000 children over the years of which 2800 children have completed their under graduation.
At present we run 5 VBDE Education Centres reaching out to 320 children in Avadi and Thiruneermalai in Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu District.

CHILD RIGHTS

The right to participation being an integral part of our intervention towards our children’s interventions was started in the year 2007 reaching out to around 500 children on an annual basis.
At present there are 8 children Sangam’s in 12 villages reaching out to 200 children.

At present we run 5 VBDE Education Centres reaching out to 320 children in Avadi and Thiruneermalai in Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu District.

HEALTH AND HYGIENE

Our health initiatives started in the year 2009 with the adolescent children in government schools reaching out around 20,000 adolescent girl children over the years on Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHH). Currently we have also initiated campaigns and health screening towards and detection and screening of various forms of cancer among the women and adolescent population in the two Districts reaching out to 2000 adolescent and 1500 women.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

Training youth and women to become independent financially to earn their livelihood has been to focus which began in 2009 by way of providing skill training in computer, spoken English, typewriting, and tailoring. Around 1200 youth and women have been able to find an employment through our skill building programs over the years.

Exposing children to agriculture

The Agri on Wheels project started in 2012 aims to expose children to have a first hand experience of cultivation on their own. Initially the project reached out to children in primary schools, and now to children in the sangams. So are 250 children have been trained in this.

Income Generation

Alternative Source of income is an added advantage for economic progress especially for women. The tailoring program started in 2018 has provided the skills to around 600 women over the years, through which many are able to earn a supplementary income in their household. The Fully equipped tailoring unit at the IUCT office also employs the women based on orders procured.

Every year4,000 to 5,000 adolescent girls benefit from menstrual health education and awareness programs. They also receive free reusable cotton sanitary pads, empowering young girls and women in government schools, colleges, and communities. Our mission is to prevent cancer and infertility issues, while promoting a healthier lifestyle for women and girls.
