A cancer-free future is achievable through a combination of prevention, early detection, advanced treatment, and community support. Preventive measures such as maintaining a healthy lifestyle, avoiding tobacco, following a balanced diet, and getting vaccinated against cancer-related infections like HPV and Hepatitis B play a crucial role in reducing cancer risks. Regular screenings and self-examinations help detect cancer at an early stage, increasing the chances of successful treatment. Scientific advancements in immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and precision medicine are improving survival rates and enhancing the quality of life for patients
Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer among women in India. In 2022, the country reported approximately 1,461,427 new cancer cases, with breast cancer being the leading type among females. Specifically, in Tamil Nadu, the age-standardized rate of breast cancer burden was reported at 702.2 DALYs per 100,000 women, indicating a significant impact in the state.
